I have started to hand applique a small sock, but don't know if I should go ahead and do the whole sock and then add the heel and toe to it.

Lost Socks

100% Cotton Prewashed fabric
brushed cotton acceptable, please no heavy flannel.
Backgrounds are to be cream/beige of a primitive look...
No white on white or white on cream, avoid "painted" fabrics...
Socks to be homespun, country, primitive types (plaids, stripes, checks and graphics)
NO NOVELTIES - NO BRIGHTS.
Blocks maybe hand or machine appliques. If using fusables, please window pane the fusable. All methods should remove sock fabric behind toes and cuffs.
Do not trim blocks
One "set" of blocks = 2 small blocks and 1 large sock block.
All blocks should be in the same direction as the book. Please use your book for reference.
Do not sign your blocks!
Debbie S. has offered to help me make a label that will include all swappers signatures. Please include a note with your signature and city/state or what ever you would like on the label.
DUE DATE: August 25th with a pre paid postage envelope.

Ruthie, I cut the heel and toe out of the sock, leaving about a quarter inch.
Ruthie, I'm doing the same as Mar...cutting out the toe and heel. That way if I (or anyone else for that matter) decide to handquilt...and should I decide to accent quilt a quarter inch inside of the socks, I've reduced the bulk. BTW, I'm loving your sock.
My fabric is all washed...I need to get some energy to iron and then I'll be on a roll.
I had soooooo much fun picking out fabrics and can't wait to start sewing.
I am also cutting off toes and heels. I sew them on first going in 1/4" to allow turn under when stitching the sock down. I find it goes faster this way.
